Labour and skills shortages in the agro-food sector

چکیده

Labour and skills shortages are a major concern in the agro-food sector across OECD countries. This challenge is compounded by relatively small, declining, contribution of agriculture to GDP, negative public perception with low wages limited career prospects. paper reviews policies that have potential address labour including market, education training, social protection policies, immigration, as well agricultural specific policies. Many policy levers used lie outside involve finding right mix tends be country specific. Furthermore, some issues can addressed closer private collaboration such improving working conditions, increasing investment training young entrants sector. Greater attention also needs given image choice, promoting more diverse workforce, alignment sector, continuous learning, strengthening national advisory services.
